The making of Mr. CornThere are many things that go into the making of each Mr. Cornelius Watercloset comic strip (mainly whiskey), and each of them are important. In this expose, we will take you behind the scenes into the making of the comic strip. First thing on Wednesday, Tom e-mails Paul, asking him what the script will be for the coming week. Half a week later, Paul e-mails Tom back with the drunken and bitter response, "How the f**k should I know?" Tom responds promptly with an idea of his own, asking Paul if it sounds good. Paul responds back, saying, "I don't give a rat's ass." On Monday, Tom sends the finished comic to Paul. Paul, who is now sober and at work, responds with, "This is f**king stupid. Did you draw this horsesh*t?" Tom e-mails Paul back, reminding him that this is a joint project, and that Paul failed to do his part by writing the script. Paul responds by sending a photo to Tom:
![]() There were many stages of development for Mr. Corn before it hit the mainstream. It began many years ago, when Tom was drawing while plastered. It started with drunken marker drawings:
![]() Which were followed by somewhat less-crude pencil drawings:
![]() At many points, the pen and pencil drawings were put on hold when work supplies (Heineken, Captain Morgan's, Lienenkugel's, various hard liquor) ran low:
![]() Then, after months of work creating that first perfect strip, our work was ruined by Tom's dog, who chewed it up into unrecognizable pieces. In the dog's defense, Tom mixes cocaine with its dog food.
![]() But finally, after years of hard work, dedication, and an incredible lack of effort, a rough draft was created. Four hours and a case of MGD later, Tom and Paul decided that not drawing Mr. Corn's pants would be "innovative".
![]() Today, Tom and Paul churn out one whole comic a week; a productivity rate unmatched by any comic strip throughout history. Mr. Corn has as many as three visitors per week, only two of which are people who come across the strip by accident. Yes, it has indeed been a wonderful journey.
